Mike Glenn Appointed Commissioner of the World Basketball Association (ATLANTA, November 22, 2004) - The World Basketball Association (WBA) recently appointed former NBA player, Mike "Stinger" Glenn, as League Commissioner for the 2005 season during a recent owner's meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to taking the helm, Mike served as a consultant to the WBA and worked as a news analyst for the Atlanta Hawks. David Archer was appointed Deputy Commissioner. "We felt that with the direction we're moving the WBA, we wanted someone with NBA experience and relationships that can assist us in educating our players about the attributes and qualities needed to be successful in sports and life," commented WBA president, Leroy McMath. The World Basketball Association is the first Professional Basketball League to teach, develop, and expose players to the NBA, NBDL, CBA, and International Scouts. Following its inaugural 2004 season, several of the leagues players signed with the NBA and various international teams. "I am looking forward to assisting in furthering the league's mission of developing well-rounded sportsmen. The league will continue to focus on teaching and entertaining while at the same time involving youth organizations and local communities," Glenn said. About Mike Glenn: WBA Commissioner Mike "Stinger" Glenn is a former NBA basketball player (1977-1987) who played with the Buffalo Braves, the New York Knicks, the Atlanta Hawks and the Milwaukee Bucks. For fourteen years he served, as the Atlanta Hawks' TV analyst and has provided his expert commentary and analysis with various news outlets such as: ESPN, WGNX, Sport South, TNT and CNN. Mike is the recipient of numerous awards including: #1 Vote for Academic All-American Basketball Player, NBA Walter P. Kennedy Citizenship Award, NBA "Spirit of Love" Award, and Gate City Bar Association Professional Athlete Award. He is involved in countless community initiatives such as: Board of Advisory for Auditory Education Clinic, The Def Awareness Committee, Chairman; Georgia Registry of Interpreters for Deaf, and Leadership Atlanta Class of 1988-89.
